How to uninstall Windows Live Messenger

1. Open the start menu (either by using your cursor, or pressing the Windows button on your keyboard).

2. Click "Run..." if you are using XP. If you are using Vista, type "Run" into the Start Search box, and open "Run".

3. In the "Open" textbox, copy and paste "RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove".

4. Click "OK" or press Enter on your keyboard.

5. Click the "Yes" button, when you are prompted to restart your computer.

As another option, you might choose to disable Windows Live Messenger - allowing you to re-enable it in case you later change your mind (this way you won't have to go to the trouble of downloading/re-installing Windows Live Messenger, which would take a significantly larger amount of time).
